- [ ] I bought a 2021 Mazda Miata with 20k miles that came with only one key fob. One dealer quoted $535 for the part plus $100 for programming; another was $350 for the fob and $150 to program it. Two local locksmiths couldn’t help. I removed the cover from my fob, copied every word and number from inside, then ordered one with matching info from CarKeyGuys for less than $70.
- [ ] It arrived very quickly and yesterday a Mazda dealer programmed it. He cautioned that he had never seen an aftermarket fob that worked but I would have to pay $150 fee anyway and that using a non-Mazda fob would cause an error light on the dash to burn. It cost $183 bucks including TN tax and misc charges for materials such as shop towels and kitty litter. Every time I start the car this error message fills one gage, even with the original fob, until I press the “info” button. After that only a small triangle icon shows. But now I have a fully functioning spare key fob. Thank you CarKeyGuys!
